Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game, and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades grant armor a greater amount of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. As a rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade a single important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
